Titan A.E. Soundtrack

Titan AE Soundtrack

A fresh Texas song is in the soundtrack of the american movie 'Titan A.E.'
The name of this song is : Like Lovers (Holding On).

Now we've travelled far
But are we any nearer?
There's a feeling we're reaching for
In the fields where it all began

Listen do you hear?
I thought I heard a promise
But that empty fear, it grows
And I'm scared that I will forget

But I, I can remember
Look around and round
There's people still hanging on
See it's me, I'm the one
Believe in me, I've just begun
We'll be here when the lights come on
When it all comes down to me and you

Just a boy and girl
Trying to change a cold world
I don't expect that you'd understand
When you look at this empty land

But I, I can remember
Look around and round
There's people still hanging on
And I, I can remember babe
Be it night or day
Like lovers left holding on
See it's me, I'm the one
Believe in me, I've just begun
We'll be here when the lights come on
When it all comes down to me and you

But I, I can remember
Look around and round
There's people still hanging on
And I, I can remember babe
Be it night or day
Like lovers left holding on

But I, I can remember (backing vocals)
Look around and round
There's people still hanging on
an on and on and on and on
an on and on and on and on
an on and on and on and on
You keep me holding on
You keep me holding on
Like lovers left holding on
Like lovers left holding on

Listen to this brand new song in the Sounds & Videos Park.

*Sharleen is richer

Sharleen Spiteri, the pin-up lead singer of the pop group Texas, Ally McCoist, the football pundit, and Carol Smillie, the television presenter, each picked up £1 million yesterday when their Scottish radio station, Beat 106, was sold to Capital Radio.
Under the deal Capital is to pay £34 million in cash and shares. It is thought that the three Scottish celebrities each paid about £100,000 for their 3 per cent stakes when the station was founded last year. The biggest shareholder is Ron McCullough, who owns 25 per cent. Mr McCullough's privately owned company, Big Beat Holdings, owns the Home "superclub" in Leicester Square, Central London.
Well done Sharleen !!!    (News from 'The Times', 13/07/2000)

*Sharleen Spiteri and Texas are currently in Florida working with legendary R&B producer Dallas Austin on the follow-up to last year's hit album The Hush. The tracks may form part of a 'Best Of' album due to be released later in the year, with a new single due in September. Interestingly, Texas' hit single In Our Lifetime had noted similarities with TLC's Creep, as produced by the one and only Dallas Austin.
Texas' last collaboration with US urban music came when they re-recorded Say What You Want with The Wu-Tang Clan's Method Man. They performed the track on 1998's Brit Awards and the single subsequently went to Number Four in the charts.

Brits 2000

*Texas was nominated for the Brit Awards 2000 in the 'Best Group' category but didn't win. The band wasn't at the ceremony and Travis got the award.
The ceremony was held at Earls Court Arena in London on 3rd March and has been broadcasted in UK on ITV on Saturday 4th March.

*Texas has recorded a new track, Nothing To Prove, with American DJ Roger Sanchez which will be on his new album released in February 2000.

*Spiteri Turns Role Down.

Reports in the press have revealed that Texas fresh-faced singer Sharleen Spiteri was offered the lead role in Baz Luhrmann's latest project, "Moulin Rouge" - but turned it down ! The part of a nightclub singer was snapped up by Australian belle Nicole Kidman instead.

*Take That - Sharleen Hits Back At Barlow.

Sharleen Spiteri has lashed out at former Take That singer Gary Barlow - after he cracked her head open with a guitar.
And the Texas singer said she'd have punched him, if it hadn't been for his security men.
She says Barlow hit her with the neck of his guitar as they both tried to get on stage at an Italian pop show - then tried to blame his bouncers.
Sharleen, 31, who will headline Edinburgh's Millennium festivities with Texas, said: "If it wasn't for them, I would have had him."
A friend of Sharleen's added: "They were all trying to get on stage and Gary hit her with the neck of his guitar.
But he claimed it was his security staff. He cut her head but she carried on with the show. She's calmed down now so there won't be any pistols at dawn."
Barlow has already been the target of potshots from former bandmate Robbie Williams and from George Michael, who said Barlow wanted to be like him but their only similarity was being fat.
Now he's made an enemy of Sharleen and his album Open Road has had to be re-released to boost its disappointing sales.
The Daily Record, Thursday November 11 1999.

*Texas were among the nominees for the 1999 Q Awards.

'The Hush' was in the 'Best Album' categorie with Travis, Blur, Mercury Rev, Chemical Brothers, and The Stereophonics.

The Q Awards were presented on November 3rd in London, but the Chemical Brothers won.

*A funny and nice story from the 'Daily Record' :

TEXAS singer Sharleen Spiteri has handed over a piece of pop history to one of her biggest fans - and helped raise money for our CHAS appeal.
The Texas singer put one of her electric guitars up for auction as part of the Record's appeal launched to build a second home for the Children's Hospice Association in Scotland.
And the successful bid was made by Steve Kirwan, who wanted a guitar for his teenage son Paul, a huge Texas fan.
Steve, an airport security worker, agreed to "bankroll" Paul's bid for Sharleen's guitar.
Steve, of Glasgow, said: "I saw the article in The Record and was planning to buy my son Paul a guitar, so I thought, why not let him bid for Sharleen's guitar. It was a real surprise when we won."
Steve, Paul and mum Helen were also delighted when we told them they would get to meet Sharleen in person.
The singer handed over the guitar to the Kirwans before the sell-out Texas concert at Glasgow's SECC on Saturday night.
Steve said: "We didn't expect to meet Sharleen. We thought we would just be asked to pick it up. Instead, we got VIP tickets to the Texas show and went backstage to meet Sharleen.
"The CHAS appeal is a brilliant cause. It's wonderful that the money will help build a new hospice."
Now Paul, who already has four guitars, can add to his collection.
The 16-year old schoolboy said: "I have a few guitars and I can play a few chords. I'm not in a band yet, but I would like to be. I've been practising for two years.
"I've got all of the Texas albums and I'm a big fan. Halo is one of my favourite songs."
Sharleen said: "Now it is up to Paul whether he takes up the guitar seriously.
"He obviously has an interest because he has a few already. The guitar has a small neck because my hands are smaller than a man's. I hope he enjoys playing it as much as I did."
But Sharleen doesn't just pay lip service in her support for CHAS. The Texas star often spends time with the children at the Rachel House hospice in Kinross.
The sanctuary for terminally ill children that Record readers helped to build will reach capacity next year.
So while other acts are raking in millions for themselves by playing New Year's Eve dates around the world, Sharleen's band have pledged to play their millennium gig for CHAS.
All proceeds from their Hogmanay concert at Edinburgh Castle will go towards the appeal.
Sharleen said: "The CHAS appeal is a very important cause. We've planned the show and the fantastic thing about it is that, wherever we go, people have praised us for deciding to donate the proceeds from the concert to CHAS.
"Some acts are charging millions to play millennium shows around the world. It's getting out of order.
"A lot of people see it as a chance to make a lot of money. We see it as a way to go on stage and raise cash for a worthy cause.
"We are keeping the plans for the show under our hat. We don't want to give too much away. All our families will be there and it will be a great night."

*Bernard Butler, the Texas supporting act during the 99' UK Tour, about Texas :
"“I had never met Texas before but I think their music is lovely. They asked me to do this and I am very grateful as there are huge audiences.

“They are keen for people to have a great night out and see a good support band, too” (23/10/1999).

*After a DJ (Mark One), a new guitarist, there are now on stage for the '99 UK Tour two female backing vocals : Nicole and Billie.

*Scottish rockers Texas are being paid a whopping £750,000 for their Millennium show and are donating the lot to charity.
They have been offered the massive fee by promoters to perform at the Edinburgh Castle New Year's Eve show. Singer SharleenSpiteri said she had been considering a quiet evening at home but decided that if people were going to offer the band huge amounts to play she'd rather do it and give the money to a good cause. The fee will be divided equally between a charity for the homeless and a hostel for terminally ill children.

*Sharleen was at the 'Elle Style Awards' in London at the end of September 99.
She won the award of the 'Female music star' ! Here's her reaction : "I’ve just come back from being away, doing promotions for the last three weeks, so I think it’ll probably be a bit of an early night for me, try and find a bit of space in my house somewhere, where I can put my award".

With Nick Moran

*Sharleen Spiteri and Coronation Street star turned pop idol Adam Rickitt have been named the UK's sexiest star by viewers of a gay TV show.
They topped the poll for BBC2's Gaytime TV (Tuesday July 27), with Channel 4's controversial series Queer As Folk voted best television show.

Sharleen Spiteri July 1999 won UK's Sexiest female award at the first Gaytime TV awards

*Texas and the USA :

Texas have secured a new deal in the States after a bitter feud between the band and their former label boss out there. They're about to release their new single ‘Once In A Lifetime’ here - the first new material since their last album 'White on Blonde’, which clocked up two million sales in the UK alone. But despite the domestic and European success, it didn't really happen in the States, much to Sharleen's irritation: "There was a ‘person’ - I don’t think you could even call him a man - the managing director of Mercury records who goes by the name of Danny Goldberg and he is not a nice person ! We didn’t see eye to eye and it caused serious problems with us in America that got very very personal. But now we’ve changed labels and the record seems to be getting a great response. What’s so depressing about the last one is that the requests for the records were massive, but it just wasn’t in the shops, and we didn’t tour. It was the only Texas album we’ve never toured in America. I don’t know if Texas are destined to sell records in America - but I feel now that we’re definitely going to get a chance."

*Brits Awards 99
This year Sharleen presented with Boy George the Best Dance Award to Fatboy Slim.
